About This Service
A Letter of Undertaking (LUT) is mainly a document that is used by exporters to file export goods or services without paying taxes. Under the new GST rule, all exports are subject to IGST that can be later reclaimed through reimbursement against the tax paid.
Exporters faced a lot of complications in the processing of tax refunds. A LUT helps in freeing the exporter from the effort of pursuing a refund as well as removes the stalling of funds that come in the way of tax payments.
Therefore, LUT filing can easily be done online which is a quick and super-easy process.
Eligibility criteria to apply for LUT
There are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to apply for a Letter of Undertaking.
A person intending to supply goods or services
To or outside India
Places covered under special economic zone
Without paying an integrated tax
Is listed under goods and services tax
Process of filing Letter of Undertaking (LUT)
- Login to GST portal
- Click on the services tab and under that select User service and then select Furnish LUT
- Under the LUT applied for the financial year option select the financial year that you want to file your LUT for
- Fill in all the details asked in the form that appears on the screen
- Mention observers for making LUT
- Preview the letter of undertaking
- Now sign the letter of undertaking
- Get the Letter of Undertaking validation
- Download your GST Letter of Undertaking now
Documents required for LUT under GST
- LUT cover letter which is signed by an authorized person
- Copy of GST registration
- Pan Card of the entity
- KYC of the sanctioned person
- GST RFD 11 form
- Copy of IEC code
- Canceled cheque
- Authorized letter
